Sunday 19 February 2012 - Supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation Throughout 2012

We are delighted to announce that throughout 2012, KOOSA Kids will be raising funds on behalf of Make-A- Wish Foundation®

Make-A-Wish, based in Camberley, grants magical wishes to thousands of children and young adults with life-threatening conditions.  There are currently 20,000 children and young people in the UK fighting a life-threatening condition and this year alone 1,200 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their wish granted. The charity needs to raise £6.8 million in 2012 to achieve this goal.

With the support of staff, parents and children who attend the clubs, we hope to raise at least £1,000 throughout 2012 for Make-A-Wish Foundation.  'Pennies for Wishes' Money box collections, a ’Go-Gold’ Olympic theme week during the summer and a ‘run the distance of London to Edinburgh’ fun run for staff and children will all form part of the fund-raising strategy.

Fundraising Update - March to July 2012

All after school clubs are taking part in our 'Save Your Pennies for Wishes' campaign with all children having been given a small money box (in March 2012) to start collecting their pennies over the coming months.

So far through the money box campaign our after school clubs have raised a fantastic £198.  Thank you to all of the parents and children that have collected their pennies for Make-A-Wish and remember the money box campaign is running throughout 2012 so keep on collecting!!

Some of our clubs have also hosted cake sales in aid of Make-A-Wish, most notably at Birch Hill School in Bracknell and All Saints School in Fleet.  So far through the cake sales we have raised £70.  Thank you to the staff for the fantastic baking and preparation and to all parents and children who took part.

As part of our fundraising campaign for Make-A-Wish we are hoping to run the combined distance from the Olympic Stadium in LONDON to Hampden Park Olympic Stadium in GLASGOW in aid of our chosen charity for 2012, MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION

To achieve our Olympic goal we will be running ‘fun run’ events for staff and children throughout July and August.

For the after school club fun run event (4th and 5th July) children were given the option of running as far as they like within a half our period.  Distances were measured and all children's individual distances were added together to give an overall total of miles run.

Distances run and money raised is still being collated but an update will follow very shortly.

For a running total of money raised as we head towards our target of £1000, please visit www.justgiving.com/koosakids
