Job Description

As After School Club Deputy Manager, you will be supporting the After School Club Manager with the day-to-day operations and management of an after school club. Under guidance of the After School Club Manager, and together with a small team, you will ensure the safe and organised running of the club.

Every afternoon, the Deputy After School Club Manager will directly organise, deliver and participate in activities with the children in your care, deputising for the after school club manager when required. You will ensure all activities are delivered to KOOSA Kids and Ofsted standards at all times. You will provide a safe and secure environment for the children in your care to explore, grow and have FUN!

Responsibilities

  • Actively and enthusiastically assist the After School Club Manager in the safe and organised running of the After School Club at Knaphill Lower School in Knaphill, Surrey (GU21).
  • Supporting, and deputising for, the After School Club Manager with the day-to-day management of the after school club
  • Develop a thorough understanding of KOOSA Kids programme of activity and deliver activities accordingly to children each afternoon, directing colleagues as appropriate
  • Have awareness of, and maintain sensitivity for, any children with additional needs (Physical, Behaviour, Dietary)
  • Assist in the preparation, serving and tidying away of ‘snack time’
  • Actively develop a thorough understanding of relevant Ofsted standards & KOOSA Kids internal policies & procedures, including safeguarding, and communicate any concerns to the Safeguarding Officer in a timely fashion
  • Ensure the After School Club operates to Ofsted and KOOSA Kids policies & procedures at all times
  • Ensure all activity areas are left clean and tidy at the end of each day. Carry out cleaning duties as necessary

Skills & Experience

  • You ideally have min 6 – 12 months’ managerial / supervisory experience in a childcare, early years or playwork setting
  • A Level 2 or 3 NVQ / Diploma in Childcare or Playwork (or equivalent) is beneficial but not essential
  • Would suit somebody with experience of working in a Primary School, Pre-School or Nursery, e.g. a Teaching Assistant, Early Years Educator or Nursery Assistant
  • Be reliable and passionate over everything else
  • Be able to relate and engage with children aged between 4 - 13 years

Monday - Friday, 2.45 - 6.00pm, term-time only
